Galbraith Manor was built as the family home of Mr. Francis W. Galbraith in 1906. Mr. Galbraith moved to Red Deer from Guelph, Ontario and established The Red Deer Advocate.
100 years later, “The Advocate” is proud to be “Central Alberta’s Daily Newspaper.” See The Red Deer Advocate.com and click on “Our History” under the “About Us” heading.

F.W. Galbraith was the first Mayor of the City of Red Deer when the Town of Red Deer received city status in 1913. His bronze statue can be found in City Hall Park on Ross Street.

In the 1950’s Francis Galbraith’s son, Philip (F.P. Galbraith) and family assumed the Galbraith home. Extensive renovations were completed at this time, including the addition of a “library wing” and an adjoining screened porch.

Pat & Gord Deans purchased the property from the Galbraith family in 2005 and have restored the home to as close to original as possible.
